PHYSIOGRAPHY AND TERRAIN


Barangay Batis is composed entirely of undulating low graded tuffaceous plateau soil. This means that it has the depth and ability to carry almost ad type of construction and it has the ability hold water. Except for the areas, the physiography and terrain of San Juan make it still an idea for urban development.


FLOOD AND EARTHQUAKE


Being the heart of the region’s plateau, the Municipality of San Juan is free of earthquake risk. Generally, San Juan has a slightly rolling terrain, however, areas along western boundary near San Juan River is prone to flooding. These are Barangay Batis, Salapan, Balong bato, Rivera, Progreso and kabayanan.


GEOGRAPHY


San Juan is situated in the central part of Metropolitan Manila, known as one of the smallest among the thirteen municipalities comprising the metropolis. Its northern and western boundaries are Quezon City and the city of Manila, respectively, while the municipality of Mandaluyong, now a city, from its southern and eatren boundaries. Barangay Batis is one of the 21 Barangays of San Juan, and Barangay Batis is the fourth largest in the land area in this Municipality, situated in southwest. Its boundaries with neighboring Barangay consist of Tuberias St. divided with Barangay San Perfecto, F. Blumentritt St. segregated with Barangay Tibagan. The southern boundary with Barangay Kabayanan is R.J. Fernandez St. while San Juan River separated with City on Manila.


PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY


The hardships of life in the province have led many to migrate to Metro Manila. They came from different parts of Luzon, Visayas and far away Mindanao. They comprise as an informal settlers located along the banks of San Juan River and above the water pipeline. These areas are densely populated. However, there are many who belong to rich families in affluent residential areas. A vast number also belongs to middle-income families who either rent an apartment or own a house and piece of land.
