HISTORY


Barangay Tibagan is a small community bounded by A. Bonifacio st. , and J Arellano St., where Mini Park is located. The other streets comprising this Barangay are F. Roxas, T. Kalaw, Villamor, Jose Gil formerly Valenzuela St., Regidor, Dr. A J. Ejercito St., and reaching upward the next barangay are J.V Alvior formerly Florante St. and Laura Streets.

 

The Land are is 7.e hectares, the Barangay Hall is now located in R. Pascual cor. Carriedo St., with a 1,000 square meters including Basketball Court. Barangay Tibagan has a population of 4,090 ( as of 2015) and has 868 families.

 

Barangay Tibagan came from the word “Tibag” which is a word meaning to crack of chip the boulders. The area is once an uphill terrain abundant with boulders of limestone is once the site of quarry for cracking big blocks of adobe which is needed for building foundation and fences, hence the word “Tibagan”.

 

It is also a small community which strictly practices various activities such as the “ The Holy Rosary Crusade” which celebrated on the month of May on which the community is encouraged to join in Flores De mayo, with young lady participated in the events.

 

A Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes is found in the entry of the Barangay on the corner of Villamor and Regidor Streets. These devices are evidences showing that despite the condition of the community they are still spiritually healthy.
