The City Budget Department, as part of the City Government of San Juan, is mandated to take charge in the preparation, review and execution of the Annual and Supplemental Budget of the City Government – General Fund and Special Education Fund, and to assist the Sangguniang Panlungsod in reviewing the Annual and Supplemental Budgets of the component barangays. Also, as mandated in the Republic Act No. 9388, known as “Charter of the City of San Juan”, the City Budget Department prepares forms, orders and circulars embodying instructions on budgetary and appropriations matters for the signature of the city mayor. Assist also the city mayor in the preparation of the proposed legislation and study and evaluate the budgetary implementation of proposed legislation and submit comments and recommendations thereon. The department is committed: (1) to encourage everyone to enhance participative planning and budgeting in different venues; (2) to establish priorities and allocate resources during investment programming of Projects, Programs and Activities (PPAs) as major component in budgeting; (3) to advocate good governance through application of participative budgeting to make the administrative more transparent and accountable; and (4) to ensure the continuity and sustainability of planning and budgeting. The City Budget Department practiced good governance by making sure that the City spends only on necessary things to save funds for future projects. Through transparency and accountability, we have gained measurable results. With these, we will continue to serve the City of San Juan in the most effective way. With the guidance of our Local Chief Executive, transparency and accountability in all programs and activities of the City have been considered. We have accomplished and discharged our functions effectively and efficiently.
