METRO MANILA COUNCIL MEETING | 06.15. 2023

On June 15, around 10:19 AM, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occured from Calatagan, Batangas. A strong tremor was also felt in Metro Manila, including at the 19th floor of the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City where our meeting in Metro Manila Council was being held. 

We evacuated the building after the initial tremor. We immediately activated our region's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, as well the CDRRMCs of the NCR LGUs.

As soon as the MMDA building was declared structurally fit, we went back inside and continued with our MMC meeting agenda which includes important measures to mitigate the effects of El Niño, updates on the single ticketing system and other concerns in NCR.
