WHEREAS, the City of San Juan, Impact Hub Manila and Greenpeace shall enter into a MOU to establish their commitment to ensure the implementation of the Alternative Delivery Systems in Communities Project which aims to develop and integrate refill and reuse systems in community-based retail settings;
WHEREAS, this Alternative Delivery Systems Project is designed to address plastic pollution and make shifting to zero waste business models in the Philippines manageable, affordable and accessible to Filipinos for all socioeconomic sectors while demonstrating their feasibility as a business model which can be scaled and/or replicated;
WHEREAS, the parties have aligned and complementary goals and seek to champion both the efforts to reduce the use of single-use plastics by commercial establishments and address the plastic pollution crisis, for the benefit of the Philippine environment and Filipinos;
WHEREAS, the City Legal Officer has certified that the MOU is in order and not contrary to existing laws, rules and regulations;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED,BY THE SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF THE CITY OF SAN JUAN, AND BY VIRTUE OF THE POWERS VESTED IN IT BY LAW, in a session duly assembled, to authorize the City Mayor Francisco Javier M. Zamora, to enter into a MOU with Impact Hub Manila and Greenpeace Philippines for the implementation of the Alternative Delivery Systems in Communities Project.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the authority, issuance and approval hereof is subject to certain restrictions and to all existing laws, circulars, rules and regulations.
