CITY RESOLUTION NO. 131
Series of 2022
WHEREAS, Ivan Travis Cu, 13 years old, hailing from Barangay Addition Hills, and a student of Xavier School, the son of proud parents Mr. Teddy and Caroline Cu;
WHEREAS, Ivan Travis Cu has brought home various awards and medals for his outstanding performance of his skill and abilities in Chess. Further, he has obtained the title “National Master” at the young age of 12;
WHEREAS, the achievements of Ivan Travis Cu was recognized by the 6th City Council through City Resolution No. 110 series of 2021. Moreover, by virtue of City Ordinance No. 32 series of 2019, Ivan Travis Cu was granted monetary incentives for his achievements as a form of support for his training;
WHEREAS, since then, he has continuously trained, competed, and won in various national and international competitions such as:

WHEREAS, in 2022 he has joined a few more competitions and did not fail to take home awards in both national and international Chess competitions. Under his belt are the following awards:

WHEREAS, Ivan Travis Cu is set to compete again in a few more competitions this year. Known now, is the Eastern Asia Youth Championships as the Official Representative of the Philippines on November at Bangkok, Thailand;
WHEREAS, Ivan Travis Cu is also preparing to compete at the following competitions this year:
(1) 2022 National Youth & Schools Chess Championship Grand Finals Under 13 Open,
(2) Batang Pinoy 2022 Chess Event
(3) Asian Youth Chess Championship
WHEREAS, Ivan Travis Cu is a great example of a Kabataang San Juaneño giving pride, honor, and glory to our City. It is only but fitting to commend and recognize his efforts and achievements;
WHEREAS, through City Ordinance No. 34, series of 2022, he is entitled to receive incentives for his hard work and dedication to his chosen field;
WHEREAS, we also request the Public Information Department to announce to the City, Ivan Travis Cu’s achievement so that other Kabataang San Juaneños may be inspired of his work, dedication, and achievements.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as it is hereby resolved by the Sangguniang Panglungsod of the City of San Juan in a session duly assembled, that the City of San Juan express, as it hereby expresses, its congratulations and commendation IVAN TRAVIS CU for competing and successfully winning in various national and international Chess Competitions
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the Public Information Department announce to the City such achievement, and that a copy of this resolution be furnished to IVAN TRAVIS CU during one of the regular sessions of the City Council.
